What we collect, and what we don't

Short version: we count pages, not people. If you give us your email, that is the one thing here that is about you — and you control it. Last updated 7 September 2026.

Always, for everyone

Our server records one line per page served: the path, the country, the referring domain, whether the device is a phone, and whether the request carried the headers a real browser sends — that last one only so we can tell readers apart from the automated scanners that make up most of our traffic. No IP address is stored, no cookie is set, nothing is written to your browser, and nothing identifies you.

We use it for one thing: knowing how many people who watched a video actually came here to check the sources. That number decides whether this project continues.

Outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

Visitors from other countries also load Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies and measures things our own counter cannot — how far you scroll, how long you stay, and whether you click through to an original source. It loads only after the page has finished rendering, so it never slows anything down. Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses; we have no way to verify that ourselves, and we would rather tell you who is making the claim than pass it off as our own.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, this script is never sent to you. Not blocked after the fact — never served, decided at the edge before the page leaves our server. That is also why we have no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

If you give us your email

This changed on 7 September 2026. This page used to promise we would never collect an email address. We are building a list instead, and would rather say so here first than let you discover it on a form. It only ever works one way: you type your address in yourself, on purpose, on a page that says what it is for. Nothing on this site reads, guesses or infers an address, and there is no form anywhere until the paragraph below is true end to end.

• What we store: the address, the date you confirmed it, and which page you signed up from. Nothing else — no name, no company, no behaviour attached to it.
• What you get: the raw dataset behind a video, and a short note when a new measurement is published. Nothing else is ever sent to that address.
• Confirmation is required. We send one email asking you to confirm. Ignore it and the address is never used and drops out. Somebody else typing your address in cannot subscribe you.
• Leaving: one click, at the bottom of every email we send, no reply and no reason needed. You can also ask us to delete the record entirely — write to the address below and it goes, along with anything attached to it.
• Who processes it: Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), a French company, storing the list on servers in the European Union. They send the mail on our behalf and are not allowed to use the address for anything else.
• How long: until you unsubscribe, or after three years without a single open — whichever comes first. A list nobody reads is a liability, not an asset.

Your legal basis, if you want the term, is consent: you gave it, and you can take it back at any time without having to justify yourself. Taking it back does not remove anything you already downloaded — the files are yours to keep.

What we never do

• No advertising or retargeting pixels.
• No selling, renting or sharing of your address, to anyone, ever.
• No account and no password — there is nothing here to log into.
• No emailing an address that has not confirmed it wants to hear from us.
• No fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking.

Every source link points to its original publisher. Once you click, you are on their site under their rules — we have no visibility into what happens there, beyond the fact that a click left our page.

To get a copy of what we hold about you, or have it deleted: reply to any email we have sent you, or leave a comment on the channel and we will come back to you. We would rather point you at a route that actually reaches us than print an address that does not.
